Bright Rectangle is a moving image production collective dedicated to independent cinema, DIY filmmaking practices, visionary imagery, weird stories and the art of filmmaking.
At Bright Rectangle Films we develop and produce original projects, collaborate with other filmmakers, artists and musicians to manifest unique ideas. We consider all forms and genres of moving image media to share a common root in the form of cinema. Cinematic moving images are the de facto language of the twenty-first century and the medium is certainly the message. These “bright rectangles” are everywhere: movie screens, television, computers, tablets, and phones that are ubiquitous in our everyday environments. The motifs and symbols they broadcast into our mind's eye influence our perception of reality and leave impressions in our collective imagination.
Bright Rectangle Films was founded by long-time creative partners Bill Darmon and Chris Ernst, who come from diverse backgrounds spanning independent cinema, experimental film, video art, music and storytelling.
